An excerpt:
“In closing: I am a great believer in the fraternity system. I am disgusted with those people who knock it, who are trying to destroy it, who are trying to make out of it the laughing stock of the campus, and I am proud of my youngest son who is a Phi Delt. It is not hard to do. When the fraternity system at my University was attacked he took his pen in hand and he gave the opposition hell, and it was published in the newspapers.
Against us who believe in the fraternity system are arrayed the same forces who would destroy all association dedicated to the four principles I have outlined. These are the same who would take away our freedom of assembly, our freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of property, and all the freedoms that have been outlined in the Bill of Rights. These are people, my friends, who are working 24 hours a day. These insidious foes of America are working to destroy those things that your fathers, your grandfathers, and great, great grandfathers rated high in this country.”
- Brother Barry Goldwater
